Securing your job is a very important thing. Good jobs are really hard to find, especially in these troubled economic times. The job market is a very competitive place. Getting to work on time is very important. Here is how you can avoid being late for work.

  1. Preparing Clothing

Getting to work late normally starts out innocently, then turn into an habit. To avoid getting to work late, prepare everything from the night before. Prepare the clothing that you are going to wear to work the next day. If you normally bring lunch to work, pack your lunch kit from the night before or get up early enough to prepare lunch.

  1. Getting Adequate Sleep

Get enough sleep to get you prepared for the next work day. On work nights, it is best to go to bed early. When you get adequate sleep, you will be able to get out of bed earlier and feel more refreshed.

  1. Having Breakfast

Give yourself some extra time in the mornings to get ready for work. Get up early, so that you can start getting ready. Everything should be already be prepared from the night before. You should be at the breakfast table at the same time.

  1. Stuck in Traffic

Encountering traffic during your commute to work is a sure way to get to work late. Take the route to work that has the less traffic. You may still encounter traffic, so to avoid getting to work late, leave your home at least 30 minutes early. It's best to reach to work earlier than your shift, so that you can get yourself prepared for the day.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you find that you are oversleeping in the mornings, use an alarm clock to help you get up early.
  • Eliminate things that are not needed to be done before leaving for work.
  • If you have to drop off a child at the daycare, give yourself even more time to avoid getting to work late.
  • Showing up for work late all the time will get you fired. Tardiness is frowned upon by employers.
