Position Summary
The Head of Sales (Sports & Commercial) is responsible for leading the company's sports revenue strategy, sponsorship sales, and commercial partnerships, with a strong focus on monetizing sports rights, sponsorships, advertising, branded content, and integrated media solutions across TV, Digital, Streaming, and Events.
This role is responsible for driving revenue growth through strategic partnerships, sports sponsorship packages, media sales, and new business development across agencies, brands, government sectors, and commercial partners.
The position works closely with Programming, Marketing, Production, Digital, Event, and Executive Management teams to develop competitive commercial packages, sports marketing solutions, and large-scale sponsorship opportunities that align with market trends and audience behavior.
The ideal candidate is a strong commercial leader with deep experience in sports business, media sales, sponsorship, and partnership development, capable of leading high-value negotiations and building long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Sports Sales & Commercial Strategy
- Develop and execute sales strategies for sports sponsorships and commercial partnerships
- Drive revenue growth across sports rights, sponsorships, advertising, and integrated solutions
- Identify new revenue opportunities and strategic business partnerships
Team Leadership & Sales Performance
- Lead, mentor, and develop the sports sales team
- Set sales targets, KPIs, and performance standards
- Drive pipeline development, lead generation, and sales effectiveness
Business Development & Lead Generation
- Build and expand relationships with agencies, brands, sponsors, government sectors, and strategic partners
- Generate new business opportunities and commercial partnerships
- Expand the company's sports business ecosystem
Sponsorship & Integrated Media Solutions
- Develop competitive sponsorship packages and integrated media solutions across TV, Digital, Streaming, and Events
- Collaborate cross-functionally to create customized commercial offerings for clients
- Deliver value-driven solutions aligned with client objectives and market trends
Key Account & Partnership Management
- Manage relationships with key clients, sponsors, and strategic partners
- Ensure long-term business retention and partnership growth
- Lead high-level commercial negotiations and contract discussions
Market Analysis & Strategic Reporting
- Monitor sports industry trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape
- Prepare strategic reports and sales insights for management decision-making
- Identify emerging opportunities within the sports and entertainment industry
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Sports Management, Communication Arts, Economics, or related fields
- 10-15 years of experience in Sales, Sports Marketing, Sponsorship, Media Sales, or Commercial Partnerships
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in sales team leadership or commercial management
- Strong experience in sports business, sports rights, sponsorships, sports events, or media-related industries
- Existing network with agencies, brands, advertisers, sponsors, and sports partners is highly preferred
- Proven track record in revenue generation and partnership development
