Training Consultant Position
Training Instructors maintain their own level of expertise on instructional design and delivery techniques, including technology trends, industry and product knowledge. They also maintain their knowledge of the tools and product offerings of the business unit.
They have technical knowledge of business and vendor product, service and solution lines and use this knowledge to design and deliver the necessary instruction to enable their clients to optimally perform their jobs. These individuals maintain their professional certification status by attending train-the-trainer sessions and other development or certification programmes that are required to deliver the training programmes they are responsible for.
Training needs analysis
They work closely with their clients to determine competency gaps in relation to technical expertise required by their employees to deliver against client requirements. The Training Instructor performs needs analysis for new courses in relation to product lines that are designed, installed and operated.
Training Instructors work closely with the Instructional Designers and client organisation to assist with the development and/or maintenance of learning material on new and existing courses. They assist in designing the courses that they are required to instruct, including training aids, simulations and assessments in line with client requirements. They prepare course outlines and may be required to customise training and presentation slides as and when required.
The Training Instructor co-ordinates all training related logistics and administration, including training attendance confirmation, venue booking and setup, reproduction of learner aids, etc. They produce training reports as and when required. These individuals keep records of training related information and work closely with the organisation to ensure that the necessary systems are updated and maintained.
Delivery and Assessments
He/she instructs a variety of clients using theory and practical hands-on exercises. They use approved lesson plans and course materials to achieve instructional objectives. Training Instructors make use of a variety of media to enable their instruction. They administer the related assessments and provide feedback to the necessary forums.
Training Instructors have excellent verbal and written communication skills. They are patient and have good presentation and listening skills. They are able to translate technical information into easy to use learning material. These individuals display good interpersonal skills and use these to work with and share information with all members of the business.
They demonstrate the ability to interact with a variety of audiences, both internally and externally. They contribute to the success of the training instructor team
In this position you will be required to:
1. Design and deliver the necessary instruction to enable clients to perform their jobs.
2. Attend train-the-trainer sessions and other development or certification programmes in order to maintain professional certification status.
3. Determine competency gaps in relation to technical expertise required by employees.
4. Work closely with instructional designers and client organisation to contribute to the development and/or maintenance of learning materials.
5. Co-ordinate all training related logistics and administration, including training attendance confirmation, venue booking and setup and reproduction of learner aids.
6. Facilitate training using approved lesson plans and course materials to ensure the achievement of learning objectives.
