Position:         Research Engineer (Linguist)

Location:        K Plus Building, Samyan

The role of the Linguist is to annotate and review linguistic data in Thai. The Linguist will also contribute to a number of other tasks to improve natural language processing. The tasks include: 

Responsibilities:

• Working together with engineers and other team members to develop natural language processing specific to your language.
• Provide computational linguistic expertise in the areas of syntax, semantics, discourse analysis, and NLP
• Develop and participate in NLP/computational linguistic research 
• Analyze and categorize data related to bank's products and services 
• Set guidelines for annotating data in various tasks and prepare relevant documents
• Annotate and review linguistic data related to banking business 
• Participate in developing and improving NLP applications through rules or machine learning algorithms
• Analyze and evaluate system metrics and outputs, such as word segmentation tool or part-of-speech tagger, and find methodical ways to remedy pain points
• Working together with engineers and other team members to develop natural language processing specific to your language including with discuss and present ideas, progress, and results within team

Key Requirements: 

• Extensive knowledge of syntax and discourse analysis
• Native speaker of Thai 
• Experience in annotation work 
• Knowledge of phonetics, phonology, semantics, syntax, morphology or lexicography 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills 
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills 

Key Skills: 

• Master / Ph.D in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics or Thai Language/Linguistics
• Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts; learn in-house tools 
• Keen interest in technology and computer-literate 
• Extended and proven knowledge of structural aspects of the language such as syntax, semantics, phonology and phonetics.
• In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of popular native culture and ability to use that knowledge to inform data analysis.
• Listening & Research Skills 
• Fast and Accurate Keyboard Typing Skills
