Staff Advanced Manufacturing Engineer – Fabrication & Welding (Senior Engineer Level)

The Staff Engineer Advanced Manufacturing will work collaboratively with Product Development and Manufacturing to implement innovative products and processes. The Staff Engineer Advanced Manufacturing plays a key role in the manufacturing process development and implementation.  The Staff Engineer Advanced Manufacturing is responsible for supporting and delivering the Life Cycle Plan from concept to production and tooling/equipment transfer for service parts at our various manufacturing plants. The role is focused on influencing design for fabrication manufacturing and development of integrated manufacturing systems, standardized processes and templates, risk assessment and mitigation, and after-action reviews.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads others to solve complex problems involving medium to large scale projects from concept to development, through capital funding/timing planning and approval, and ultimately through successful implementation using analytical thought, exercising judgment and identifying innovative solutions.
  • Impacts part design related to Design for Fabrication, implementing error proofing, fixture design, and incorporating quality improvement measures to drive results including APQP processes.
  • Resolves complex problems relating to "Should Cost Analysis" for new tooling and parts.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with suppliers and shareholders to achieve project deliverables.
  • Understands and implements Lean Manufacturing principles (5s, Six Sigma, CI system, etc.)
  • Works independently, requiring guidance on only the most complex situations.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Preferred
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a group and / or team and provide guidance to other employees.
  • Demonstrate understanding of DFMEA/PFMEA, Control Plans and other APQP tools.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles (5s, Six Sigma, CI system, etc.)
  • Demonstrate understanding of Robotic applications in fabrication environment.
  • Demonstrate understanding of OEE or equivalent capital planning tools
  • Experience in metal fabrication techniques such as Deep Draw Dies, Die Trim, Rivet and Spotwelding, Metal Finishing, LSW,  GMAT, GTAW, metal forming, Laser cutting

Preferable Experience

  • Experience in design of tooling, fixturing, gages
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Experience with PTC Creo or equivalent CAD software
  • Experience with ACAD or equivalent software
