Job Description

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer role that is being recruited is within the Aloha Development team, and is based in Thailand.  The team applies Agile methodologies to build solutions to enhance and expand the product suite in alignment with the Aloha Solutions team product vision.  The development team is responsible for all aspects of change to the product, from the development through to the ongoing maintenance and technical support.  We work closely with other delivery functions such as Solutions and Professional Services to ensure that the client experience is optimal.

Aloha is a group of next generation applications that will provide a Middle to Back office platform to support the global operations for Institutional and Wealth Managers, built using a MEAN architecture. Aloha’s components are being built across a number of SS&C’s development centres globally, following a consistent architecture and approach. We are responsible for the data layer and the Valuation/Analytics services.

The requirement is for a defined appropriate criteria of the software to be tested and measuring the quality of released software against predefined criteria and report any defects for resolution by development.

The successful candidate will work within established distributed Scrumban Teams.  Technology is used to ensure effective and close collaboration between the team members who are typically located within our Surbiton (London) office and our Bangkok (Thailand) office.  From a line management perspective the successful candidate will report in to the quality assurance manager.  The role is based in our Bangkok office.  Ability to travel is beneficial as occasional opportunities arise.  This could include secondments to our Australia, Hong Kong, UK, or US offices, as well as potential for client site work during implementations or Proof of Concepts.

  • Primary responsibility for the delivery of Test Strategy, Test Plans, Test Data, Test Execution, Test Statistics and Regression Test Packs
  • Review the defined test plans with Product Owner (PO) and Developers to ensure the test coverage are for the requirements or acceptance criteria
  • Log defects and recreate them as needed, track defects through to resolution
  • Ensure that all test deliverables are delivered and maintained in accordance with the defined testing standards and that these are thorough, complete, accurate and traceable
  • Experience in developing test strategies and/or approaches for the effective use of automated test tools
  • Must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex problems and propose practical solutions
  • Escalate any potential impact to the Scrum Master (SM) and/or Product Owner (PO) highlighting the specific product areas and associated risks
  • Collaborate with Product owners (PO) and Developers to help in the definition of user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Strong fundamentals with SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Scrumban)
  • Participate in show & tell sessions with clients & stakeholders and retrospectives with the team
  • 5 or more years of experience in testing enterprise software
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or any IT related field
  • Experience in QA methodology
  • Has experience in API testing and SQL database such as Mongo DB
  • Good to have some automation skills (testing tools eg. Ready API, Selenium, Conductor or any)
  • Has basic QA process and manual system testing
  • Ability to document and troubleshoot errors
  • Knowledge of Jira and Confluence
  • Working knowledge of test management software (e.g. Zephyr, Xray)
  • Experience working in Agile environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good English communication
