Job Purpose

The Retail Strategy Manager is responsible for the formulation and execution of AZTH’s retail and drug store channel strategy, execution, and work in partnership with TA Marketing Teams to ensure that there is an effective marketing strategy, tactics and budgets to deliver our objectives.

This person will also be responsible for the commercial propositions including; price, discount strategies and retail incentives and lead 3rd party relationships with vendors who are responsible for delivering field force activities in this channel.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the bidding with third parties to select the best partner in retail channels during contract review period; assess the effectiveness of the 3rd party for future renewal decision
  • Define and monitor retail KPI, price, trade scheme, target, incentive and rewards to drive growth in retail business
  • Manage and ensure optimal execution of plans of action (POA), field tactics program and territory plans by 3rd party retail sales team in alignment with AZTH retail business’s key strategies
  • Ensure enlistment of newly launched and key products in retail channel by planned date
  • Work closely with Brands / TAs team to align the brand’s retail strategy with the overall company retail direction; aligned with finance controller, compliance business partner and assurance to ensure Compliance in retail channel
  • Ensure the right data sets are available to monitor performance, standardized reports are in place and regular business reviews are conducted
  • Conduct SWOT analysis of market/competitors to identify Retail business opportunities
  • Develop and monitor Retail Business Plan with Strategies and Tactics based on key objectives and allocate resources for optimal sales impact
  • Monitor the 3rd party business plans to ensure intended actions and plans are appropriately conducted, and that resources are directed to customers of greatest potential; Review 3rd party Monthly Reports and comment on deviations from Business Plan and intended actions to align performance with plan.
  • Maintain contact and relationship with key accounts/customers; update customer database and target segmentation continuously; monitor stock of key accounts/ distributors and advise on customer inventories

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in pharmaceuticals or relevant retail business is a must
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communications skills
  • Strong collaborative, partnering, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to work independently       
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence multiple stakeholders at various levels to achieve the objectives, often without direct authority or across multiple sites
  • Ability to think in the big picture, while also being disciplined and detail-oriented
  • Learning agility and ‘scalability’ to take on increasing responsibility as the therapeutic areas and team grows
