Job Description

This role requires an ability to work with a product/process development team to develop, improve and maintain optical assembly processes for automatic pick and place, and manual assembly processes. The main focus may consist of:

• Enthusiasm to work in a fast-paced environment taking new concept designs through prototyping and delivering into production, developing leading edge optoelectronic products.

• Engage with a global product development team to understand the product design to facilitate robust highly integrated optical product assembly processes.
• Work closely with design engineers, manufacturing and external vendors to solve issues with optical components.
• Apply material thermomechanical principles, theories, and concepts to develop and improve optical assembly processes for automatic pick and place equipment and manual assembly.
• Author and execute process validation activities to ensure product quality.
• Provide technical work instruction and hands-on transfer to operation, engineers, and other business team to optimize process/product management and control.
• Contribute and conduct FMEA and DOE in the product design phase for performance, manufacturability, and reliability validation.

Education Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Materials, Mechanics, Electronics, or related field of study
• Minimum 3 years of experience in microelectronic manufacturing processes and/or product performance electrical/optical evaluations using semi/fully automated machine or equipment.
• Experience in automatic pick and place processes for microelectronic product is desired
• Knowledge and experience in thermomechanical properties of materials such as semiconductor, polymer etc.
• Able to develop small applications with VB, VBA, .Net, C#
• Experience in machine/tooling development is a plus but not required
• Experience with integration and automation of manufacturing and test equipment is a plus but not required.
• Experiences in any manufacturing application to support a manufacturing environment is a plus but not required.
• Understanding in image recognition process and machine vision system is a plus but not required.
• Understanding in optoelectronic product reliability qualification test is a plus but not required.
• Understanding in optical properties of components using in telecommunication is a plus but not required.

• Strong leadership skills and good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, and implement / monitor root cause corrective actions.
• Demonstrate trouble shooting and problem-solving ability in manufacturing processes.
• Good project management, and handle special assignments promptly and professionally
• Good data management skill and be able to establish a clear data traceability
• Support an environment conducive to effective cross-team interaction and self-initiates applicable information sharing.
• Accept and provide constructive feedback.
• Energetic, enthusiastic, and willing to learn and adapt.
• Willing and able to travel and work at other Lumentum sites (domestic and abroad).
• Able to work under pressure.
• Good in English
