Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate technical and management aspects of package development
  • Lead package design and improvement, working cross functionally to drive packaging related initiatives while complementing environmental sustainability, lean operations, as well as supporting cost initiatives
  • Managed assigned Packaging Development projects, working with customers and manufacturing, to meet project objectives and due dates
  • Provide packaging options. Develop, engineer, and test Product components and modify as necessary to meet customer requirements, functional parameters, cost targets, manufacturing and shipping targets
  • Work effectively with suppliers and manufacturing to assure the creation of timely functional specifications
  • Support with the introduction of new packaging designs and perform package component testing and qualifications, working with suppliers, from product development through to unit and production tooling
  • Prioritize, manage, quantify, track, and report all packaging development projects.  Continuously improve existing methods and processes to facilitate efficient delivery of high quality products to customers
  • Confirms packaging design by conferring and collaborating with managers, developers, production, and other departments
  • Record packaging material attributes and specifications
  • Provide support in a cross functional manner with other departments when presented with quality issues related to packaging
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience as a packaging engineer, preferably within plastics industry
  • Technical Engineering background
  • Understanding of customer filling lines, distribution and consumer use
  • Knowledge of bottle testing, capable of conducting dimensional and functional evaluations
  • Knowledge of Packaging systems - types, costs, ordering procedures
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, tight deadlines and pro-active in solving problems
  • Willingness to work in an attractive and challenging environment
  • Proficiency in English is a must
