Job Description

The Head of Business Analysis will be responsible for the management and leadership of a team of business analysts and the development of IT Services business analysis capability through professional development activities. Business analysis is a key function in the successful delivery of an IT solution that meets business requirements.

Description

  • Business analysis is a key function in the successful delivery of an IT solution that meets business requirements.
  • The Head of Business Analysis will be responsible for working with the Programme Management Office (PMO) and other IT Services technical delivery teams to assess new project requests and ensure that the appropriate solution is identified.
  • As well as providing this leadership, they will contribute to the development of our IS strategy, the strengthening and optimising of our IS governance and the development of an enterprise architecture.
  • They will need to possess excellent leadership qualities, to operate a matrix management regime that allows staff to be deployed effectively to projects and programmes and to work closely with colleagues, key stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Objectives are set by the top management and delivered by the Programme Boards. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring these objectives are met.

Profile

  • The successful candidate will have the skills and experience required to liaise and work with senior C-Level management as well as key stakeholders across the businesses.
  • Knowledge of the business's operating structures is essential as is the ability to influence and manage these external users in respect of the significant change that the programmes will introduce
  • A high level of general education to degree level or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with staff at all levels of the collegiate University, recognising the demands of an academic environment and the specific challenges that these present
  • Experience of business analysis (and enterprise architecture or project management would also be highly desirable) delivering a range of applications, preferably within a higher education organisation
  • Proven track record of managing activities that support a number of full project life cycle implementations including those of a large complex nature
  • Proven ability in managing substantial budgets and human resources in a project or programme environment that operates matrix management
  • Proven ability to manage and develop teams of IS professionals including objective setting, performance management, coaching, personal and professional development and general line management
  • Proven ability to shape a range of diverse requirements into coherent and understandable strategies, architectures and change projects and programmes which can be justified at a strategic level
