Job Description

Job Purpose / Overview:
• The CVS Manager controls the planning and execution of product and business development projects in terms of development, launch execution, and post launch evaluation
• CVS Manager to support all commissioning, validation and start up activities for all projects on site by developing and executing the CVS plan which includes checklists and timelines for the 3 phases (Commissioning, Validation, Start Up), identifying and creating CVS teams, managing, coaching and supporting the CVS teams while working in partnership with the Project Engineering Manager

1) Responsible for the successful Commissioning, Validation and Start-up for all major and small minor projects at the site
2) Support and manage all CVS activities including project launch execution and post launch evaluation
3) Manage the learning curve activities and improvements until stable production has been reached
4) Manage the CVS activities including coordination of resources, collaboration with engineering group, leading cross-functional decision-making teams concerning project activities, developing the CVS plan, creating standard operating procedures and maximizing the operational effectiveness of start-up
5) Develop and execute the CVS plans through the CVS teams including checklists, timelines and include Global Best Practices for Quality & Food Safety
6) Coach and role model the application of Mars safety standards and OH&S
regulations in order to safeguard our associates and assets
7) Communicate with plant management to ensure appropriate resources are in place.
(CVS teams, operators etc)
8) Manage, coach, support and direct the CVS teams
9) Create Standard Operating Procedures to maximize operational effectiveness
including job descriptions for new positions
10) Transfer equipment knowledge and operation through Factory directed training or
personal hands on training
11) Create detailed work instructions for temporary support for new projects
12) Set up and chair meetings related to CVS activities and Project information. Ensure
communications between all departments and provide updates on CVS status to
Site Management Team
13) Work closely with Scheduling to optimise CVS activities with minimal impact on
scheduled operations
14) Resolve cross functional issues and agree on actions, follow up on actions, define
and report on milestones
15) Managing the CVS teams budgets
16) Manage special projects as required
17) Support the Site Teams in the identification and delivery of Do It Best MCC
Improvement plan
18) Support activities prioritised by the regional TLT to drive improvements to Do It
Best metrics
19) Develop close working relationship with Lean / Continuous improvement Manager
to identify cost reduction opportunities throughout the site and implement lean
solutions to reduce waste, improve yield, increase TRS, and maximize productivity,
labour and equipment utilization
20) Support overall lean execution programs for the site including lean training and
implementation of lean programs

• Input into choice of vendor and acceptance
• Review equipment, machinery, processes and systems with references to
project business objectives and conformance to technical, regulatory and safety
• TRS performance and shorter learning curves with proper CVS techniques
• Waste reduction costs during learning curve
• Recommendations and input to engineering for design and installation for new
and existing projects and equipment
• Collaboration with R&D for process and product development including new
• Training budget management for new and existing projects

Qualifications & Other Requirements:
• Strong understanding of current process
• Strong analytical, communication and influencing skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to transfer procedures and training experiences to others
• Comprehensive understanding of the CVS process, lean thinking methodology &
application to site environment
• In depth knowledge of Mars policies, objectives and organizational structure
• Understanding of the change management system
• 10 or more years experiences in a manufacturing environment with experience in
project management and CVS experience for a major or complicated process
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated presentation skills
• Demonstrated skills in leadership and learning on the fly
• Knowledge of Mars quality systems and lean manufacturing principles preferred
• Experience across multiple business functions desired
• Strong working knowledge of manufacturing, warehousing and engineering functions
in a food processing / distribution facility
