Jobsdb by SEEK survey highlights ongoing discrimination in hiring, urges employers to reduce barriers for a better workforce future
Bangkok, November 15, 2024 – Jobsdb by SEEK, Thailand’s leading online employment marketplace, has released its latest survey findings, which provides insights into Thai professionals’ views on their current occupation and career path, as well as their job satisfaction and contentment towards their jobs in Thailand. The report reveals that over 30% of Thai professionals believe that bias and cultural discrimination remain significant obstacles to securing suitable employment opportunities. Among employees aged 25-34, 33% identified discrimination as a major barrier to obtaining desired roles. Additionally, workplace discrimination can deter some individuals from actively seeking new jobs, with 16% of Thai employees citing cultural barriers as a reason they hesitate to change jobs. Notably, 20% of those aged 25-34 also share this concern. The survey reflects that discrimination in the hiring process still remains a real issue in Thai society. The survey found that 33% of respondents aged 25-34 are concerned about finding new jobs that match their abilities due to discriminatory practices in the hiring process.
