The Department of Veterinary Medicine, Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences (AFRIMS) is seeking an individual for the position of Clinical Veterinarian under the Cooperative Agreement (CA).
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from a recognized Veterinary School and a minimum of one year's experience working as clinical veterinarian or in a biomedical research institute. Good working knowledge of English (TOEIC or equivalent minimum score of 600) and understand scientific, medical and veterinary terms. Demonstrable interest in laboratory animal medicine and biomedical research is a plus. Availability for evening, holiday and weekend on call duty for animal emergencies is required.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION: The successful candidate will have primary day to day responsibility for the routine clinical veterinary care of the AFRIMS research animal colony, which consists of common laboratory rodent species and rhesus monkeys, and will provide hands-on veterinary support for research protocols. S/he will work under the supervision of the Supervisory Clinical Veterinarian and will supervise veterinary technicians and animal technicians to ensure correct and timely performance of all animal procedures in accordance to the Department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), animal research protocols and other related guides, policies and regulations. S/he will have some teaching/training responsibilities and medical supply and equipment management duties.
