Position :  Account Communication Executive

A job position that is most needed among the new-generation people would definitely be “Account Executive” in the advertising agencies. The post is known as AE in short with no Thai word given.  As a matter of fact, what’re they doing? Let’s go deeper on this particular career.

What to do ?
Let’s talk with Khun Byrd for more details. “Lots of young people savvy that an AE in the general advertising agency companies is a cool and easy job. They think AE can wear a trendy chic dress to meet the customers. Actually, AE’s duty and responsibility are more than that. Personally, when I started to work, it’s really different from what I thought. By this position, I had to plan, control and manage all the advertising production process. What’s more, I had to handle the whole campaign from the scratch till end”, openly said K. Byrd.

She further explained her career details that it’s not simply easy. “Oh! It sounds like the middle man between the ads agency and the corporate customers because as you might know, all relevant communications are done through the AE only. About the working venue, I have to work in and out the office. So, my working time might be extended longer than ordinary office hours. Sometime, I have to follow up my assignment to get it done completely in the weekends or public holidays“, added K. Byrd. 

How to do ?
K. Byrd told us “Generally, I start from an initial talk with my customers  to obtain what they really need and what their targets are. And then I come back to do the hardworking homework by searching all relevant data on the current market conditions. After that I and my teamwork convey and brief all collected data to a group of creative in order to create the advertisement. Apart from this, AE him/herself will take part in production quality control or checking all the detailed production process. Not enough for that, AE has to coordinate with Media Planner about the proper media channels for launching the effective communication.  Besides, there are many paperwork in hand such as material or document for screening by The Authority on Broadcasting and Publishing, estimated expenditure, draft letters for contacting the persons concerned and so on.”
 
Must have  ?
You must be able to work under pressure from all directions that might dash into you not only from the customers but also from dealing with the creative team. AE is highly expected to coordinate and facilitate with all parties to come up with the final consensus. Moreover, you must have abilities on teamworking, creativity and time management.

How to be ?
It’s commonly easy to join this career. There’s no need for you to graduate in the direct field of Communication Arts or Marketing. Alternatively, it’s required working experiences, for instance, a typical training in the agency companies or a training on communicational skills such as business presentation and negotiation in both Thai and English languages.
