One of the main attractions in any table setting is the table napkin fold. It is the fancy way of how it is designed that attracts the guest. Sometimes, guest prefers not to use it and just leave it so as not to ruin how beautifully it was folded.
French dining also has its own style of napkin fold. Aside from being sophisticated and elegant, it is very easy to create. And you'll be amazed that it doesn't require any expertise to be able to do it on your own. Just follow my simple detailed instructions and alas! You're ready for your very own French dining look alike which you could adopt even at your very own house.

  • Use a clean square-shaped cloth for your table napkin. Although white is most commonly preferred, you can also use any color that matches the motif of the occasion or blended with the color of the table cloth. Soft fabric is recommended but the use of starched material is also a good idea for you can still use it with other napkin folding designs.
  • Spread the napkin cloth on top of the table or on any flat surface. From a square shape, fold it half diagonally making the shape of a triangle having the long side to your left. Make sure the seams are on the inside.
  • From the triangular shape, take the top corner of the table cloth and pull it towards you or fold it diagonally but make sure that the top end corner does not meet the lower end corner. Staggering it creating an inch or two inches from the left corner. The end result looks like two triangles on top of each other but not perfectly arranged leaving a few inches distance from the previous top end corner and the lower end corner.
  • Repeat the said procedure taking the right end corner and fold it to the left, pivoting at the same location where the last fold or middle fold pivoted. Make sure to also leave an inch or two as distance from the middle end corner. The end result will look like three folded wings.

This is best place on top of the dinner plate or on the left corner beneath the fork. It also looks nice with a flower on top of it as added design. You can also use this design for any formal or casual occasions or for special dinner during holidays.
